Currently the number of obese people in the world is still growing, as well as people suffering from other metabolic disorders included in the metabolic syndrome. The factors responsible for this are anincorrect diet, low physical activity, as well as a tendency of the population to aging. Therefore, more research aimed at seeking potential factors that could in the future be useful in the prevention or treatment of obesity and related diseases is carried out. In this article we present a few selected biochemical markers, affecting the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids in a way that is not always clear and obvious.
